Treasures of Egypt and Mt. Sinai DAY 10 JERUSALEM/TEL AVIV to CAIRO, EGYPT Travel southward from Israel today into the land of the Pharaohs and priceless treasures. It is most renowned for the unique collection of precious art objects and the library with its collection of old manuscripts. Continue to Nuweiba, located on the Gulf of Aqaba, for an overnight stay. DAY 14 NUWEIBA and TEL AVIV, ISRAEL The morning is at your leisure to relax or enjoy the beach on the Gulf of Aqaba. LUXOR, KARNAK and CAIRO Crossing the Nile River, enjoy a morning visit to the world famous Valley of Kings and Queens located on the west bank. This afternoon you will visit the breathtaking Temple and Obelisk in the town center of Luxor, plus the Temple of Karnak which is connected by the Avenue of Sphinxes. DAY 13. LUXOR - ESNA - CRUISING Travel this morning through the Theban Hills to visit the magnificent Valley Of The Kings And Queens. Return to the ship and enjoy the remainder of the day as you sail from Luxor to Esna. DAY 14. ESNA - EDFU - KOM OMBO - CRUISING Highlights today include a visit to the Temple of Khnum at Esna. Then continue your cruise to Edfu where you will ride a carriage to the well-preserved Temple of Horus. This magnificent dark-stone temple, built in 230 B.C., will teach you about the religious life of ancient Egypt. Return to the ship and cruise to Kom Ombo. DAY 15. KOM OMBO - ASWAN - CRUISING A morning visit takes you to Kom Ombo, perched high atop a hill on a picturesque bend in the river. Visit the temple dedicated to Horus, the sun god, and Sobek, the crocodile god. Cruise on to Aswan, the "Pearl of the Nile". Weather permitting, you will ride a graceful felucca to view Elephantine Island, Aswan's famous botanical gardens on Kitchener's Island, and the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan. Return to the ship for one last night. DAY 16. ASWAN (DISEMBARK) /CAIRO and TEL AVIV Disembark today and begin your sightseeing of Aswan and the New High Dam which forms Lake Nasser. Visit the Unfinished Obelisk and learn how it was possible to cut a single piece of rock to create massive pillars. Transfer this afternoon and continue to the Aswan airport for a flight to Cairo.
